Snapping photos around the city centre

Its 10am. The weather is overcast. The sun is peeking out from behind the clouds.

Perfect conditions for two hours of photography.

Two Thursdays ago, the volunteers gathered outside Homebargains before heading out to various spots around the city centre. Armed with plain A4 paper, a red marker and an SLR camera, the team photographed constructed scenes of hopelessness and despair, two emotions confronting homeless youngsters every day. Everything, from the expertise behind the camera to the people in the photos, was done by the volunteers. "A picture is worth a thousand words"- Fredrick R. Barnard.

These will be used in an upcoming exhibition.

While photographing, Councillor Anis Faruki from St. George's ward joined the group for a short while. In the future he'll be supporting the campaign through his skills and expertise.

It was also a fantastic opportunity to meet up with two members of The Challenge Network who are leading a similar campaign against homelessness. Hopefully, both teams will join forces in the future.
